Mapping Space through Resonance

Mapping Space through Resonance is an ongoing research into how places shape listening, relationships, and ritual. Drawing on archaeoacoustics, sympathetic resonance, and psychoacoustics, I ask what makes a place particular: its materials, architecture, memories, and acoustic behavior. I am especially drawn to megalithic monuments and landscapes, where sound, history, and human gathering are deeply intertwined. The research runs alongside my creative process, born from curiosity about how a place can be felt, shaped, and integrated into the moment of performance. A key inspiration was the Hypogeum of Ħal Saflieni in Malta, a 5,000-year-old rock-cut sanctuary whose Oracle Room has a strong low-frequency response, prompting questions about how architecture, sound and ritual may be connected.
